Linksys BEFSR41 v.2 slow

OK, my old router died so I got this BEFSR41 from a friend. Without a router, my download speed is around 15 Mbps, with this router, I max out at 5 Mbps according to Testmy.net

Is it because this router simply can not go any faster? I am using the latest firmware for that router.

Any ideas? I mainly use the router because I like something between me and the internet other that Microsoft's firewall.

After googling a bit, lots of places say the BEFSR41 v1 and v2 only had a 10mbps half duplex wan port, which maxes out at 5-6 mbps.

User manual here http://support.radioshack.com/support_accessories/doc66/66591.pdf
page 16 of the pdf under lan and wan

"Remember that your Router’s ports connect to two sides: your 10/100 LAN
port(s) and the Internet WAN port. The LAN port(s) transmit data at 10Mbps
or 100 Mbps, whereas the broadband port, or WAN port, transmits data at 10
Mbps
, because 10Mbps is currently the maximum speed for cable and DSL
service."

Time for a new router.
