Linksys befsr41 - how can I open, not forward, ports?

The only real problem I have with this thing is trying to dcc send/recieve stuff with irc.
I can forward a range of ports, and it works fine, but that means that only that one specific system can dcc, unless I go in and change stuff around. That is a crappy solution at best, especially since changing those settings will knock everyone in the house offline for a second, no matter what they're doing (i.e. I'm playing game X, and my cousin needs to dcc, so he changes the settings, and I get dumped out of the game when he changes them)

Does anyone know a way to just open specific ports to the entire lan?

Personally, I don't think you can get it to work. Your problem would be the fact that you only have 1 IP address on the outside. How would the router know who to forward it to? The answer would be that it wouldn't know how. One option may be forwarding the ports to the Broadcast address on the Internal Lan (Broadcast address is ALWAYS the last IP in a subnet....). Since all IPs on a subnet should listen to this address and reply when anything is sent to it, it MAY work. I personally don't think it will....

Another option would be running a Linux box with Port forwarding on the same subnet. What you would do is, have your Cable/DSL forward those specific ports to the Linux box. Have the Linux box forward those ports to a certain computer. Now, if you need to change those settings, just change the port forwarding on the Linux box, and you won't have to interrupt other people using the Cable/DSL router. This MAY work as well. It all depends on what your Router would do with the packet (For instance, since it isn't coming from the IP you have that port forwarded to, it may change the local port, which would mess everything up). I figure if you have an extra computer laying around, that isn't important, you might want to give the Linux method a try.

The point is, though, I don't want to forward it. I just want it wide open, so that traffic coming in on that port can get to where it needs to go.
I can't believe that something that I can do without a problem using M$ ICS doesn't work on this router. :(

If you are doing NAT opening ports will not do much. It will not know to go to your machine.

If you're getting knocked off of a game, etc. when port forwarding is changed, then someone isn't doing it correctly. DCC uses a very specific set of ports that most other applications shouldn't use. If you forward those ports to a specific machine it shouldn't affect the rest of the networks' functionality. Try and check to make sure you have ONLY forwarded the DCC ports and that should fix it.
