For wired use, is a linksys wrt54g-tm in any way inferior to a buffalo hp-g54? I understand that the buffalo is hard to beat for wireless, but I wasn't sure about when using a cable. I could go wired or wireless for my pc, but as I do a lot of gaming and media streaming, plus the fact that I seem to live in a noisy old house, I might stick with wired. Thanks for any ideas.

How much slower than wired is a good wireless signal for gaming? Is the difference really big/noticeable? Thanks.

id go with the buffalo as ive had better experience with them personally. at some point you may have a laptop, or internet tablet or phone or something with wifi, or maybe just guests, so you just as well plan on using it at some point (make sure to secure it!)

wired 10/100 (the most common speeds on entry level consumer gear) is better than wireless because wireless is far, far more susceptible to interference that can cause random disconnects or lag spikes.
