Linksys 4 port router loses internet connection after installing new bios.

Linksys BEFSR41 4 port router.

It will work fine for a random amount of time (10 min. to 4 hours), but then I can't access anything through the cable modem. Unpluging the power from the router will restore the internet connection, but it will eventually go down again.

I put the previous bios back on the router and it works it's working perfectly again, but now I'm exposed to the security flaw that the new bios fixed.

This is an old router, so I wouldn't have a problem replacing it. I don't need 802.11 right now, but it would be nice to have that option. Who makes the best routers now?

I guess it depends on what you're doing. Everyone here at work swears by Linksys since their new firmware allows you to have a very nice router-based firewall on most any of their routers.
