Linksys 2.4GHz 802.11g wireless-G PCI

I have a Linksys 2.4GHz 802.11g wireless-G PCI adapter with speedbooster connected to a Win 7 PC in my garage modelWMP54GS. I can see my WEP wireless network when asked to connect and I type in my WEP key and it clocks trying to connect but does not. There are at least 3 signal bars of strength but it will not connect. Interesting thing is I have an IPAD Air and have no problem connecting to the Internet.

I have a Wi-Fi range extender no more than 40 feet from the PC in the garage. This is an older PCI card and there don’t seem to be any software updates, so my question is would a newer card solve this issue? Just wondering because of the IPAD being able to connect.

Any suggestions on a newer card or what to look for would be greatly appreciated

Forgot to mention: I know the card works because I installed it in my house and it connected no problem.
