Linksys 10/100 Ethernet Card - Make a little bit of money after MIR

Compusa has it for $4.99 after instant savings. Best Buy has it for $14.99 w/ a $5 mail in rebate. Price match Best buy to Compusa, and with their $5 MIR and 110% price match policy, you'll make a little bit of money

Picked up 2 earlier today, the cashier didn't want to give me the rebates that printed out, so I waited for the manager to correct his mistake.
He also didn't do the extra 10% off $5 difference, but I didn't feel like getting him into more trouble.

just got back from BB...here is what happened.....

I went to the CS counter for PM....the CSR looked at the ad and insist that she needs to call Compusa to verify product avalibility....I told

her that I just came from there and show her my receipt of the NIC....she doesn't even look at it.....so she called.....but like Compusa

always do...they put her on hold....then she started to change to different phones behind the counter hoping that this will get her

through the wait.....didn't work.....waited for about 20 mins.....in the mean time she talked to different people behind the counter about

the PM....finally she got through with Compusa.....then she said I can only get one for the PM price.....I asked her why....she said it's the

company policy...I then asked her for a copy of the policy, since I never heard of that before.....she simply took out one of those envelop

they used to put the receipt in and directed me to the price gaurantee section and point to a line that says
See a Customer Service

Representative for details
which in my opinion didn't say anything, and claim that as the policy. I then asked her if that means they

can basically said any thing they want and change their policy around and claim it to be part of the detail, she said..."YES".....she also try

to told me bunch of other stuff about how BB's price is actually cheaper then Compusa, which really comfused me.....How can $14.99 be

cheaper then $4.99...I admit I am not good at math....but I think I know which is cheaper......after she finally PM it for me and as she was

giving me my receipts she saw the MIR, then told me that she can't give me the MIR cause I already got the PM(again she try to told me

that the PM even out the MIR, or something like that....)....well...I guess I would just have to download the MIR from their

website.....

Thanks for the deal anyway.......🙂

Akahai, no offense but IMHO that's just working too hard to get a hot deal. Cheap NICs, especially at the relatively low (but adequate) quality level of Linksys, pop up at < $5 every week (usually after MIR) at some major online or B&M retailer. I have bought five Linksys LNE100TX NICs over the past couple of years -- all of them cost me $5 or less -- most were free. I would not wait in line for 20 minutes, let alone debate a B&M employee about their PM policy, for that kind of cash. And I am by no means rich.

Why fight the BB CSR?

Pay their $14.99 price, take the rebate slip to your car, and get the CrapUSA flyer. Bring the receipt, NIC and flyer to CS and ask for a price match. If they say no, tell them to take it back.

Wow akahai, you went through a lot of trouble just for one nic. I'm kinda sad that we havent has one of thoes dell deals so I could pick up 10 or so all at once w/o trouble (I would use them all too)

I know that sounds like a lot of trouble.....but I just really want to see how BB really suck on PM....now, I know(because of this I missed out on newegg's refurb deals).....but the funny thing is that at each counter at BB and CC I saw a little yellow sticker posted with the state mark on it saying "every customer had the right to the lowest price(or something like that)" and with a phone number you can call to learn about your rights.....maybe I should call it....see what my rights are.........🙂

honestly I wasn't expecting it to be like that too....I had never had any trouble PM at BB....but lately....not so good.....

Piblokto....Thanks for the advise....next time when I ran into situation like this...I will remember your advise.........🙂

well i went to a bb on the way home from work and asked them if they would pm with compusa. one sales dude was like we don't pm rebates. i told him it's an instant rebate and he was like "it's still a rebate". i told him i walk out the door with the nic for $5... and asked if they could match that. he insisted it's still a rebate. i asked him if he was sure, so he goes to ask some other dude. he goes "we don't pm rebates right?" great way to ask huh? so in the end, they won't give me the out the dorr price of compusa. i think it's really dumb, becuz now the whole pm system everywhere is gonna be stupid. anyone can say "instant rebate" instead of "sale price", and thus will not have to pm. anyway... at least that is my story. so fruck it. i'll wait for the next deal to come around... that'll teach them 😛

the best way to deal with belligerent employees is to 1) ask for the manager 2) have the manager explain why they will not pricematch 3) ask for the manager's full name, store # and a small written (signed) statement of why they will not pricematch the item.

If they refuse, ask for a corporate headquarters phone number, and write a letter to your state's dept of consumer protection, detailing what happened.

good luck 🙂

Usually once I ask for the manager's full name I get the pricematch 🙂
