Links millions of links or shortcuts saved on hard drive

I made a shortcut of many links and just put it on one of my hard drives randomly to save. What is the best way organize all these links ?

I learned not to save anything. The 500MB hard drive partition on my laptop is basically only used to boot up my OS into RAM. My RAM is twice the size of my Hard Drive. If I can't remember something, it probably wasn't important. This is the ideal way to organize. I was once a pack rat too until my laptop got stolen, then I realized saving stuff didn't matter. It's all about the frugal life, living in the moment with your RAM and cold booting every time you leave the computer.

Millions? Seriously? At some points you should say to yourself "if I ran into this once, I will probably run into it again." I think ninaholic37 and I are similar on this.

I thought I had a lot of links on my browsers, but it is probably less than 50 per computer.

Im a pack rat. I have data/files on my 4TB system dating from the late 80s. Hell, I can't even open/run much of it. Sometimes, when I am really board, I will sift through the system and look at these files. Like resumes from 1987, see what I said I knew then. Its hilarious sometimes. I even have old midi and 10 second video files that took hours to download back in the old modem days.

There's nothing wrong with a happy medium. The human mind can't possibly remember everything it's ever seen, and to dismiss it as "if I can't remember it, it's not important" is a little shortsighted. Especially at work, I have all sorts of articles saved on server config how-tos and stuff and I quite frequently go back to reference them years after the fact when I have a new server and need to replicate that particular config process.

The trick is to actually organize it, it's not just a massive list of stuff. You can make folders in your bookmarks in all browsers just like you can make folders in any filesystem. Group them logically and it's pretty easy to find what you're looking for even with hundreds or thousands of bookmarks.
