Just created a linkedin account. What do you guys think of it? Does it work and is it worth it? Also any rules/etiquette I should be aware of? Such as is it acceptable to link to family members?

Some people I know signed up to it, and I received an invite to sign up. I never did sign up. I keep getting spammed to sign up to it, kind of annoying. I guess there could be some value to be had though. Sorry, nothing too constructive to add.

its nice way to keep in touch with people at a professional level. Think of it as a visiting card repository that updates itself when someone changes their job.

Yeah. if you're in the tech industry, it's probably the best way to land a good job.

I ended up with lots of professional contacts, and lots of recruiters. I think, if you are looking for a job, it is a great resource. also, i have gotten some good technical/trade information from some of the groups.

If you already have a job and are an important person in the company = expect to get ALOT of telemarketing/sales calls asking for you... For awhile I was going WTF how and why are these callers asking for me by name... since then I deleted my Linkedin account... and the calls stopped!:thumbsup:
