I was reading the faq's and info; as I am thinking about joining one of the groups, when I clicked on the www.egroups.com link it took me to a Yahoo Page that wanted me to sign up for newsletters. Is this the right link? Which group do you need people in the most? I'm thinking about the cancer one but they all seem good.

Hi, and welcome to Anandtech forums! 🙂

I have just had a quick look through the FAQs and welcome threads here on the forums, and I cannot see any links to www.egroups.com in the articles.

We would love to have you join us in any projects. In Set@home, we are in 4th place, and trying to get higher than that when the project ends in the next few months, in Seventeen or Bust, we have just taken 2nd place, and have also just started a race with TeamTNT, to see who can produce the most in a month. These are the only projects that I know our status in, as they are the only ones I participate in 🙂

In almost all projects we are hoping to move up the ranks even further 🙂

With whichever project you choose with us, you are a member of, what I feel, are the best group of people you will find on the internet. If you have any problems, be it with your computers, or even your life, the people here will help you out. We have a couple of friends here, who have had their lives literally saved by the kind, generous, knowledgable people we have here. I personally couldn't ask for a better set of friends 🙂 Enjoy your stay here with us 🙂

I'm also not sure what link you are talking about but I'll address your other questions.

Not many people do the UD cancer project. While it has very noble goals the scoring system it uses is screwed up and it is too easy to manipulate the stats without accually doing much real work.

Personally I think it would be great if you would join Seventeen or Bust, Find-a-Drug, or Community TSC. They are all smaller projects that you could really make an impact in. With that said SETI is one of the funnest projects that you can do.

Maybe you're looking for this page but I'm not really sure. If you want to join up with one of the projects, you have to download the client/program first, then join the team. If you decide on a project and want to know how to join TeAm Anandtech, we can help you out 🙂

We have just recently updated the FAQs. Would you please provide a link or url to the page that has the erroneous link to Yahoo?

Thanks 🙂

With some projects, you visit a page on the project's home site to join your user account to Team AnandTech. In others, like Folding@Home (my favorite project, and the one that I would recommend if you asked me which to join), you simply enter a team ID into the client. Other projects may take a string identifier, like "Team AnandTech", while Folding@Home uses a number - in this case, 198 represents Team AnandTech.

😱 Very embarrassed. I'm too used to newsgroups, the options here are amazing and a little overwhelming for someone who doesn't join forums ever. That's my excuse for being dumb. How do I delete the post, I cannot find a delete button. Sorry again

Don't worry about it 🙂 We were all new to forums at one time or another.

You cannot delete a post. It's no big deal.

Sorry, should have done that. I was here How Do I Join The Team AnandTech Mailing List? clicked on the link www. egroups.com there and ended up here Yahoo Groups
I think that mailing list is pretty much dead; I've not heard much about it anymore, anyway. For that matter, aside from a few people who crunch on the RC5 team (including myself - with a work system), they don't seem to make much noise on the forums either. 🙁
