I can't seem to find an updated roadmap on Intel's mobile efforts. Everything's outdated... Anyone have links / mind filling me in?

What I really want to know is what are the upcoming Atom ticks and tocks, expected performance, and especially projected release date! Im thirsty for knowledge here and all the info that I can find seems to be outdated!

Furthermore, can someone tell me what the difference is between the Bay / Cherry trail processors and the Merrifield / Moorefield processors? Im stumped / stupid.

Furthermore, thoughts on the transition from 22nm to 14nm in mobile? Will this be huge?

Intel will probably announce more about Cherry Trail and maybe an updated Broxton release date or maybe announce new products (still hoping for Morganfield, Willow Trail) at investor meeting next month or CES (Intel just announced they'll do a keynote, btw).

I guess Cherry Trail won't launch before 2015.

The difference between Bay/Cherry Trail is that those SoCs are for tablets. Merri-/Moorefield are for phones. All are quadcores except Merrifield. The Trails have Intel graphics, The -fields have Imagination graphics (Moorefield same SoC as iPad Air, for example).

14nm will be quite huge, reasonably bigger than from 28nm to 20nm. This will allow Intel to significantly upgrade its Silvermont architecture to Goldmont to compete with A57, but I actually don't really expect Broxton to "destroy" (as some people call is) A57, but its power consumption should be very good.

Also, I don't really expect too much Broxton devices within the next 300 or more days, so that might be quite disappointing.

So Trail is for tablets, Field is for phones... Where does Broxton fall?

Is it just me or has Intel's release schedule been really funky lately? Nothing is coming out on time, and well... Both Broadwell and Skylake are allegedly coming out in 2015. Enough said?

Do you think with the obvious difficulties Intel is having shrinking the transistor, we will start to see a break down of the tick tock model? For example every new die shrink of the fab process will result in one new architecture that gets consistently updated every year (such as Devil's Canyon). Or possibly multiple new architectures for every new fab process if they really start to experience difficulties?

Broadwell architecture was supposed to come out h2 2014 and it is coming out on time but only select skus such as the core m.

Airmont was also supposed to come out at the same time. This is now going to be a 2015 part.

The reason for this delay was problems with 14nm they are now fixed and Intel is on track. Skylake is ready so once Intel has produced enough chips to satisfy demand at full capacity is when we see skylake.

Tic Tock is still on track this is a minor setback like the sandy bridge motherboard issue.
