LINE Japan-Thailand

I have an account in Japan, and am trying to add a contact who also uses LINE in Thailand. Searching each other's IDs shows up nothing. Is inter-country contact disabled?
 
Like I said, someone I know in Thailand has a line id. I enter it in my account here in Japan to find them and add as a "friend"- shows 'no member'.
So, I give them my LINE ID code, they enter it in their LINE account in Thailand, it also says there's no such member existing.
Get it?

I believe Line is a popular cross platform messaging/VOIP app. Cant answer your question though, maybe LINE has a website with support?
