Line Conditioners

I was wondering what the practical value of a line conditioner is, for both computer use and Home Theater use. I found this Monster Power HTS 1000 for $85 plus shipping. I will be moving into a dorm room for college soon and wanted to know if it is a practical use of my money to invest in one or two of these. Thanks.

It's a tough call, there are a lot of varying factors (condition of the lines in your place, the quality of your equipment, etc.)

I have a 1200VA UPS with AVR for my computer, and I have considered getting something for my home theater system. For home theater, I would buy it from a place with a good return policy, so I could try it out. If I saw a noticeable difference, then I would keep it, but if I didn't then I'd return it.

I'm all for line conditioners. I tend to shy away from Monster stuff because of the price premium. (Or at least what I perceive to be a premium).

I'm guessing that a good surge protector would be about all you'd need. Now what you want is another story.
