Line 6 Variax 300 Modeling Guitar - Any thoughts?

Anybody here ever play one of the new Line 6 Variax 300 modeling guitars? They seem to be getting some pretty good reviews from what I've seen, and it seems like it'd be a fun guitar to jam on with the different sounds available.. I'd like to here some thoughts if anybody's played one though.

Good electronics, good sound, but the guitar part of the equation is awful. That said, I'm still tempted to buy one from Musician's Friend while they have the Red one for $299. Of course I'd almost immediately take the guts out and slap them into a decent body and neck combo. Check out some of the conversions this guy has done.
