Line 6 Guitar Port....WOW!!!

Fritzo

Lifer
My wife got me THIS for Christmas on a whim, and it's probably one of the best gifts I've ever gotten. It's a USB device you plug your guitar into, and it can simulate a ton of classic amps, effects, etc. That's cool on it's own, but you can also download specially made MP3 tracks, and the Guitar Port will set your effects to be the same as the guitar in the song, then you can follow along with posted tab, loop, slow it down, etc. WAY COOL. The effects feature simulated stomp boxes with simulated knobs. You can look at the settings and then apply the knowledge to your real effects pedals. I learned 5 songs in an hour---it would have taken me well over an hour for 1 song with just plain tab! Can't praise this thing enough!

I give it three thumbs up:

How much better is it than the v-amp 2? I have been looking at that since it is cheaper than the line 6.

Yeah, I like the Line 6 stuff pretty well. I have a Pod/floorboard and the Yellow box (distortion).

A little pricy, but worth it IMHO.

Give the wife another big smooch.

Happy new Year!

Scott

Looks cool. I have an Mbox and amplitube & guitar rig, probably the same idea.

Dude, post some sound bytes 🙂

gah!!!! ive been deciding between the guitarport and the v-amp2, i bought the v amp 2 from MF yesterday.

they just came out with a new guitarport that has drummmachines, for 199, think the first guitarport is 100. might just cough up and buy that as well if the v-amp2 isnt good enough for me.

decisions decisions

I've got a POD xt, which i guess is the same type of thing with more junk on it, i have it hooked up to my computer and the recordings sound pretty good.

I've got the POD LiveXT that I use for gigs, but the Guitar Port is just a plain cool toy. It's like karaoke for the guitar 🙂

24bit? damn.

very nice.

Use Windows Audio Encoder 9 @ windows professional 9 24bit and make us some tunes boy...now!😀

I had a chance to play with the recording last night. I need a bass to cover up my mistakes 🙂 Anyway, the is a Martin D-15 with a Seymour Duncan pickup, and it's modeling a 1968 Fender Jazzmaster amp with slap plate reverb and a little bit of echo (to give it that "hall" sound"). It's an 8mb wmv due to the quality, so only download if you really want to hear it heheh.

BTW- It's Bron-Yur-Stomp from Led Zeppelin III, and I improvised a little.

EDIT- Rats- my FTP cut off the connection, so the whole file didn't upload. There's only about a minute on there. I'll fix it later.
