Line 6 Flextone/POD guitar amp modeler question

I had a Zoom 505 and there were websites that had big lists of patches/settings for it, like this or this, to make you sound like a certain guitarist or song.
I bought a Flextone II amp awhile back since someone told me it had the same thing, but I've been unable to find any. The only thing I've seen is on the (poor) Line 6 website, you have to display each patch one at a time, which shows up on a large graphic of a POD filling the screen. I'm not about to go in one by one and print out each one. I called Line 6 and asked about it, but they knew of no such lists, and seemed to wonder why I wanted one. Does my request not sound like something that would be highly useful?! I even told the guy I wouldn't have bought the amp if I'd known this, to which he laughed. So much for my opinion on Line 6 CS.

Thoughts?

I've got a Pod, but I've stayed pretty much with the standard patches, and put in some from Guitar Player magazine. I believe some of the guitar-oriented magazines have patches on their sites.

I agree, their site is pretty lame (but they're musicians and "hardware guys", whaddya expect?)

Good Luck

i don't know of any sites for what you want. but like the line 6 guy, i have to question why you would want that. the last thing you want is to sound like another guitarist. i know it seems cool at first but when it comes time to really play in a band, you need your own sound. think about this way. when a band like smashing pumpkins (or tool or korn or metallica or blink 182, etc) comes on the radio, you KNOW it's them instantly, even if it's a song you haven't heard before. a big part of that is guitar tone and the reason those bands are distinctive from other bands (or at least they were when they first hit the radio) is because they sounded different from everyone else. so if you really want to sound like a pro, find your own sound. it's fine to have your influences, but ultimately if your goal is to sound like someone else, then what's the point? chances are they do what they do better than you can fake it.

Arrgh. Here's an answer to your question. You're entitled to your opinion, but if non-pro guitarists didn't want to sound like other guitarists when they're trying to play that artists song, then there wouldn't be any patches in magazines, or the tons of patch sites for other brands of effects units. I am basically a beginner since I've only been playing on and off for 3 years or so, and I've never had a lesson. I'm well aware that guitarists have a certain sound, but I have no desire at this point to have my own sound. I am a music lover, have a lot of guitar idols, and yes, I want to sound as close to them as I can when I play their song. Yes I know they do it 1000X better than me, but there is a point, I want to get as close as *I* can, and I have the means to get fairly close with electronics like the POD. It would be nice when I play for a friend that they knew what I'm playing since many times they don't. Getting the guitarist's sound that played the song, I would have more of a chance. Also I don't write any or play much of my own music yet, so since I mainly play cover songs, I want to sound like them! I feel I have a very good reason to do what I'm trying to do, and dang it, that's what I want to do! :)

Anyone else felt this way?

Also, I was at least trying to find the crappy patch settings pages Line 6 had on their website that I described above, but couldn't. An email I got back from them says:

> since Line 6 no longer "officialy" supports
> Sound Diver, the library is being converted to "Line 6 Edit" files.
> They
> should be up and running soon...
> In the mentime, here's a link to the current Line 6 Edit library:

But I really don't know what Sound Diver and Line 6 Edit are, or the differences.
Maybe Sound Diver was the online patch interface thing I mentioned.
