Lindsey Vonn tore her ACL in a fall last Friday

Interested to see how skiing through a torn ACL pans out. From my limited understanding of biology, the ACL would be fairly crucial for the majority of the mechanics involved in skiing.

It reads like she wants to go because it's her last chance, so I assume that's why she's willing to take the risk.
i could see that if she hadn't been to 4 already(winning multiple medals)

/best of luck to her though

It is really a shame for an injury to take someone out like this. But, I hope she makes the right decision not only for herself, but for her teammates.

A GOOD knee brace should see her through it. It might not be perfect, but ought to be good enough.

Lindsey Vonn is in “stable condition” after undergoing surgery to treat a fracture in her left leg following her crash in the downhill final on Sunday, which brought her Olympic dream to an end.

According to the Associated Press, the surgery was performed at the Ca’ Foncello hospital in Treviso on the same leg that Vonn “completely ruptured” her ACL in a January 30 crash in Crans-Montana, Switzerland.

Sad that she couldn't finish, and I can completely understand that she wanted to push through the earlier injury - olympics were the reason she came out of retirement. There's no point in saving yourself for later if there's no later.
I'm surprised how competitive she had been this year, at 41 years old and after a 5 year break. Hirscher is 5 years younger and has tried to return for 2 years and ultimately dropped out of olympics due to not being competitive enough for medals (for those who don't follow alpine ski - Hirscher won Men's overall world cup 8 times, most in history, the 2nd best guy has 5).

ought to let the substitute go if she's injured (i'm assuming they have backups?)

Vonn is leading world cup in downhill this season, there are only 3 US skiers in top 20 in standings, and 4 were competing at olympics. Whoever subbed for Vonn wouldn't be fighting for medals.
She took a risk, it didnt work out, what can you do. I believe her when she says she has no regrets.
