This is the kind of stupid pranks that are going to be played over and over again by the Repubs because they have absolutely nothing to offer the public in the way of real factual evidence in support of Trump and the actions and decisions he's been taking/making since his electoral college win.

His two highest priorities have been giving Putin everything he demands and doing anything and everything to avoid getting successfully impeached/removed from office and into the impatiently waiting hands of SDNY.

I think by now the Repubs see the writing on the wall and are simply stalling the inevitable in order to give McConnell as much time as possible to fill vacant judgeships with conservative political hacks that are more than willing to pledge servitude to the GOP makers and breakers.
Exactly right, they cannot attack this with facts defending Trump, so they attack the process instead, in the end it will fail just like it did for Nixon.

Pence would send him the same hacks for judicial appointment. Trump laid waste to his GOP primary contenders, stole the semi-delusional GOP base & made the once mighty grovel at his feet. They're scared shitless. They brought it on themselves by crazifying their base for decades with FUD & wedge issues.

One thought that occurs to me also is that these more dramatic actions by lawmakers comes on the back of requests by Trump to defend him. The same acts have come from some folks who had expressed previous, much more moderated opinions clearly not trying to inject themselves into the defense of Trump. So why fall in line while the evidence piles up against Trump?

I suspect there are some who intend to vote against Trump, at least if enough people are on that same page when it comes down to it, and they are not wanting Trump to feel he is being abandoned by them until then. Multiple motivations may apply here, but I think the simplest is awareness that a volatile Trump in office is a danger for the country. Under that awareness with will to vote against him, palliating his ego seems to be the best strategy up until he is removed from office.
Errr, that is a very optimistic view of the current GOP...I hope you're right.

When one loses their loved one, loss of their spouse, loses their best friend who kept them grounded then it is no surprise that lost soul would have a mental breakdown.
Gawd, poor Lindsay is totally lost without John McCain.
Lindsay no longer knows who he is, what he is, what he is doing, and which way to turn.
Note to Lindsay, they do have groups for grieving the loss of a loved one.
Seriously.... it's a lot better than a mental breakdown, Lindsay.
For the sake of the memory of John, get some professional help Lindsay.

It's a shame we cannot throw Lindsay Graham out of office the same day Trump loses his.

He deserves to share the same fate.
I feel the same way about numerous people who've had their lips stuck to Trump's ass the last few years, Lindsey and McConnell chief among them.

After Trump is gone there will be a lot of personal accountability going around from ex-Whitehouse staff and from current republican congress persons.
Even Mitt Romney, no friend of Trump, will feel a guilt that he "could have done more" to hold Donald Trump accountable.
And folks like Lindsay and so so many others in congress will have no choice but to either fall on their sword, or seek counseling.
Or.... just make up some lame excuse for their behavior and loyalty to the evil one, Donald Trump. I.e. I WAS POSSESSED BY A DEMON, or, I WAS HOOKED ON NARCOTICS AND NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR MY ACTIONS, or, THAT WASN'T ME, THAT WAS MY EVIL TWIN. I WAS LOCKED AWAY IN A CLOSET.

I can't wait for THE MINI SERIES.

If you think the performance the other day at the SCIF was something... wait until this comes to be.

Single sourced for now...interesting if this happens, could be a game changer

Also...

Kyle Cheney, Politico:

EW: A crucial witness in the impeachment inquiry, Tim MORRISON, intends ot testify on 10/31 if he receives a subpoena - an indication he'll to cooperate even if the White House tries to block him.

He'd be the first current WH official to testify:
...
Morrison is also the first official believed to have been on the July 25 call between Trump/Zelensky who will talk to impeachment investigators:

Will the Senate Pubbies offer a deal: censure?.

Is it possible Senate Republicans might approach Trump about resigning or announcing he is not seeking reelection.?

"You've made America great again despite the evil liberals witch hunt! We can't guarantee that you won't get convicted in the Senate, so let's deny the evil liberals the impeachment they so badly want to drag your family through."

I can see that happening but Trump will want some guaranteed contracts for his properties before leaving.

I could see him claiming total victory and not needing to do anything more. He would deflate the impeachment talk, change the entire direction of the election and still be able to serve as a wrecking ball to the Democrats with the full support of his followers. The GOP could also recover those voters completely turned off by Trump.

If Republicans can convince him to do this it would really be their best move at this point.

Rank speculation of the specious variety. Dems want Trump's hide & will do all they can to have it. I'm confident that Pelosi would giggle at the notion of settling for censure. Nor will Trump resign under any circumstances other than after the election so that President Pence can pardon his many crimes. He might be too arrogant to do even that.

Tim Morrison's Wikipedia page:

Morrison is known as a "Bolton loyalist" and has been characterized as a "nuclear superhawk".
...
He was a primary source of information regarding the matter to William B. Taylor, Jr., the acting US ambassador to Ukraine.

I doubt Morrison is going to be a fulsome witness for the investigation in the way that Ambassador Taylor was, due to his current position within the "administration." But there are verbatim transcripts of the call that exist and Morrison is mindful of that. I expect Morrison to answer truthfully about whatever he is asked, but to volunteer as little as possible.

Not many people are willing to pull a Manafort and go to prison to protect a corrupt politician, especially one as corrupt as Trump. Trump already admitted what he is accused of just by releasing the call summary and stating it was a "perfect" call. Why would Morrison perjure himself in a situation where the facts are already so clear?

Trump "administration" has attempted to forbid Morrison from testifying. He is defying that request and has made it clear he will cooperate so long as a subpoena is issued, as it has been.

Barr himself made a serious misstep by failing to pursue an investigation into Trump's Ukraine corruption - which is why the House is having to investigate it now. As I understand it, there were 3 separate referrals from within the "administration" for Barr to open an investigation due to obvious abuses of power by Trump. Barr buried them all.

Trump just couldn't keep his mouth shut, and let Bolton go away quietly. No he insulted the shit out of him. Bolton as much as I can't stand him, has a reputation, and career he wants to continue. So as I said when Trump attacked him on the way out, pay backs a bitch.

Of course it's speculation:rolleyes:...It's still the best chance for the Republicans to keep power of the executive. Everything is "specious" when it comes to Trumps possible actions and motives. After all... America elected the most "specious" crook around. Anythings possible...
