I haven't personally tried LindowsOS but the reviews I read were awful. It's not cheap either, as the yet unfinished OS is $99. And to get applications taylored for LindowsOS, you have to subscribe to some service that's like another $99 annually.
If you need to reinstall your OS, then apparently you get to download all those applications again from scratch (as I understand it). Windows application compatibility, which was originally highly touted by the company, is actually not improved from any other Linux distro.
I get all this and more from my $65 SuSE Linux Pro, which I can actually install 99.5% of for free over the Internet (a few commercial applications are exclusively on the retail CDs). If I wanted to pay a bit less, SuSE Personal, Mandrake Standard and Red Hat are all much better options than Lindows.
Believe me when I say it, from what I understand (w/o having hands-on experience), there are at least a dozen other operating systems I'd buy before handing over good money to LindowsOS. Unless they have some magical secret that they haven't yet unleashed upon the world, you really are paying extra for nothing significant. Just my two cents.
