5 little words

"server fall down, go boom"

I'll try over the weekend after the feeding frenzy.

I created an account and it shows up in my cart for $0.00 but I can't get past the Credit Card requirement to download it.
Do you have to give them a CC number? If so F*ck that!
Anybody else have this problem?

Please inform us stupid people.

I got mine without any problems. To bypass the CC stuff look at the left side of the screen and click on "My Products". As was mentioned in a previous post.

It's not very obvious: once you choose the "developer" edition, you're directed to a "click-n-go" thing which asks for a CC. Skip that noise.
Over on the left, click on "my products"... then "cd downloads"... now you can download just fine
(or I should say "now you can wait in line, like the rest of us")

Bah I don't like to wait in lines so I decided to just buy it. This will give me something new to mess with.

Didn't need to use the coupon code. Strange. Sent right to an ftp site. lindows-4.xsource. Heaven only knows what I am downloading though. Got lots of "technical difficulties" screens and had to re-login a lot.....

I ordered the shipped version. came out to $21 for me. Not too shabby for an OS.

I then went back in and signed up with a different email and will do the download tonight.

btw...On the page immediately after you creat a user and put the product in your card there is a link below it which asks if you have any coupons...this is before you "proceed to checkout"....by inserting the code here you will not be asked for cc information...good luck

I gave up trying to download it. I could get in the queue (after logging back in about 10 times since it seems to get in a log-in loop). But the queue always bombs before I get to the top of it.

Anyways, what exactly is Lindows anyways? I didn't get a good feel of what I would ever use it for via the website. Is it just another linux distribution or is it a brand new windows-clone O/S that is supposed to be compatible?

Log in with your newly created account. From home page, click on My.Lindows, My Products, choose CD Downloads from the menu on the left, then download.

btw, I'm using Mozilla Firebird. Y'know how you get randomly dumped from Micro$oft's site if you're using any browser except IE? I wonder if it's reciprocal on Linux sites?!

There's alot of different flavors of Lindows and I've got 'em all except this version 4.5.189 (released 1/16/04) because you'all are hammerin the servers!

LindowsCD 4.5 v4.5.133 12/18/03 boot disc, Lindows runs entirely from CD, nothing installed.
LindowsOS 4.5 Developers Install v4.5.130 12/18/03
LindowsOS 4.5 v4.5.122 12/15/03 full version w/OpenOffice
LindowsOS Laptop Edition v4.5.72 12/3/03
etc.
