Lincoln Chaffe Quits Race And No One Notices

I saw an article this morning that said that former US Senator and RI Governor Lincoln Chaffee quit the presidential race. The article said (and I cannot confirm with a citation) that Chaffee polled at 0% among the Democrat candidates. Not rounded to zero, but literally zero. The article had a tweet that someone overheard him in a coffee shop say he was out of the race. Of course being a former Republican, for those who recognized his name, didn't help him.

I did a search on Chaffee news and the entire results of the first page were Chaffee MO. I wonder what took him so long?

I did finally find a relevant article. I suspect this thread will quickly sink to page 2 and then 3 in a day or two. Not too many people even knew he was a candidate.

If Lincoln was anything like his father John I am sad - Being a conservationist (moderate) his father was one of a few Republican Senator you could count on to keep good legislation on track.

Did he ever mention to anyone that he was running? That's an important part of winning an election.

Klinton and Sanderclaus are the only two dems in this race, no one cares about the other folks

Try searching "Chafee" retard, it was on yahoo front page all day yesterday. Did you know Webb quit earlier this week right after contemplating an independent run?

Chafee seemed like a decent guy during the debate. I don't know if presidential material, but still light years ahead of any GOP candidate.

Seriously? Chafee was living proof that the GOP is ahead of your average democrat.

No one on the GOP was stupid enough to give the WORST POSSIBLE answers to "Why did you vote for that?" At least most of the GOP are prepared for the most important part of the presidency..... giving bullshit answers to the american public.

Chaffee had some good ideas, such as finally implementing a switch to the metric system, but after his debate performance, the best his campaign could opt to do was to bow out quietly and respectfully. He is a good man, but quite frankly, a continued effort would have been...sad to see.

He was a lot like his dad. I was pretty excited he entered the race till I heard his first speech-and all the ones after that that I heard, for that matter. I swear something must have happened to him in the several years he took off of politics for he was horrible and boring this time around.

Leave it to a brain-defective conservative to treat the Presidency as a popularity contest.

So far, that's just about what their race to the primaries are. ;)

Like Rush Limbaugh or any of those other clever folks exploiting the Repub base and making a killing from it, Trump is doing the exact same thing.

The only difference is that Trump has an expiration date, whereas opportunists like Limbaugh can keep on spewing their profit making rabble rousing lying crap ad infinitum.

That's exactly what it is.
Did Obama get elected because of his vast experience in government? Perhaps it was the company he built from the ground up with little more than vision, perseverance, and brains? Was it his tremendous hulking intellect that got him the job?
The answer to all those questions is no. What's left? People liked him, he mouthed all of the appropriate platitudes, made all the necessary promises, and got the job, twice.

It's absolutely a popularity contest.

Now we just wait for Martin O'Malley and Lawrence Lessig (who didn't even get invited to the debate!) to quit.

Does anyone know if Webb or Chafee have endorsed anyone yet?
