Limiting Win2K's search for network resources?

Does anyone know how to limit the amount of time that Win2000 will search for a network resource before giving up? The problem, at work use Access and unfortunately one of the forms we use was hard coded to look for a printer that doesn?t exist. Trying to change he default printer for that form doesn?t work, (all other forms and reports work fine and use the default printer). Searching MS knowledge base didn?t turn up an answer.

It?s going to be a couple of weeks before we can get the form fixed so a livable short term solution is to limit the amount of time Win2k looks for the nonexistent printer before going to the default printer.
