Limiting memory usage

Seems I remember reading about a screen in Win98 that allowed you to limit memory use, i.e.; if you had 256 megs of RAM in your machine, you could limit usage to 128 megs. I've looked for it but can't find it. Am I trippin' or is there such a screen? Where? Someone please help this OF!

Thanks!

In Win98, you should be able to run the program msconfig

Click on Advanced and you'll find the memory limit setting.

msconfig is just a convenient GUI for setting some advanced settings for Windows, in different places.

Note when I tried to upgrade my box past 512 MB RAM, there is another known problem that requires a configuration workaround in system.ini

However, try as I may to limit the RAM to 512 MB (and ignore the rest), Win98SE was just unstable unless I went back to 512.

So... once I've backed up all my files completely, I'll be wiping out '98 and going to XP once and for all.
