I have XP pro and followed mechBgon's guide on his site: http://www.mechbgon.com/

Made two limited accounts and enabled software restriction policy.

Have a few problems that are ticking me off and am currently switched back to admin mode on both.

I haven't had a problem in a long time. No spyware or virus issues. Not to say it can't ever happen and I know these two options add extra layers of protection.

For what I use to keep safe:

I use AntiVir with some settings changed to do a more through scanning and Zone Alarm with the program control set to low (learning mode) because it's annoying popping up when I use a new program. I know it's made to help bad software not call out. I only download apps from trusted sites anyway. It's just an annoyance. I also use my routers firewall and such. Use firefox for surfing and Spybots Immune feature and Spyware Blaster to keep spyware off. Keep XP patched. Seems to be working just fine.

I heard comodo offers really good malware prevention. Should I bother switching? I prefer the set it and forget approach not having to open and close ports manually.

Anyways back to my problems:

One program I use to get voice mail when the phone line is busy is Extreme Answer. I can get the messages window to open on my user account on limited to check messages but on the other user account it won't open.

On my user account I can play steam games single player but multiplayer games won't run. Assume it would do the same on the other limited account and would be a pain in the butt since the other name is for someone else.

Netflix Instant Viewing on limited account on both user accounts wants to install the DRM stuff and it's already installed and works fine in admin mode.

HP PSC 750 scanner/printer won't work when on limited accounts.

Anyone have these issues and have some solutions?

Thanks.

I think you're going to have a lot of permissions issues with any software that relies on networking. MS did such a great job of dumping everything into system32, its hard to sort out what is important for the OS and what is important for applications.
