limitations of "un delete" software for NT

I need to recover a document that was created before I formatted my WinXP (NTFS) drive. When I reinstalled, I deleted the Primaray partition and recreated it through the WinXP setup. Did I destroy my chances of restoring any data? What app do you recomend for doing a recovery?
