Lil Wayne. Tha Carter IV

I'll admit its a guilty pleasure of mine. I got the Target Deluxe Edition and while Novacaine was weak, I Got Some Money On Me is a straight up feel-good banger!

not diggin' that. but then again i acknowledge that your more 'ganster'(gangsta) rap is not to my taste at all. and with rap, my terminology sucks ass. it's not like with rock music where i'm like, 'oh yeah, that's a great progressive post-hardcore band!' =D

atmosphere has been my favorite for a long time. most people are at least familiar with one or two of his songs, though they don't recognize the name (atmosphere is a duo, slugg is the rapper)

also some rappers, hell, i don't even have to hear them rap to know they're infinitely better than 'lil wayne'.

I get what you are saying, you prefer hip hop.

What about reggae style?

question- why are all your links christian rap?

not looking to start debate, i'm just reading the labels (labels suck). i have no issue with religion in music, although i prefer them to leave their references ambiguous so as not to alienate what could be a huge audience.

for instance- lots of christians like the rock band thrice. their two main members are christian. the singer leads friggin' worship services at his church...yet they never actually include words like god, jesus, savior, ect in their music. occasional biblical references...though they probably reference greek myth just as much. their most popular song/video, and one most adamantly held to be 'christian,' is actually about children in africa.

anyways, just curious. i liked the cross movement song.

i hate reggae...

....liked the link. quite a bit. i've always found 'classic' reggae like marley to be boring as shit, but this seems to have more complexity.

Lecrae, the top Christian rapper, held 3 of the top 10 slots on the itunes hip hop chart after his last album dropped including #1 and #2. He wasn't the only Christian rapper on the chart. They don't need to compromise in order to find an audience.

Benjah is great, found him at a concert handing out that CD. Just real chill music.

it's not compromise- it's respect, imo. respect for the views of all music-lovers, not just those that share their religious faith. i can only ignore lyrical content so much before i have to move on- probably the 'dumbest' music i listen, honestly, is dream theater. but i get over the often-crud lyrics because it's not a focal point, just an instrument in the orchestra.

rap, imo, is a lot different. lyrics are front and center.

about benjah; i couldn't find a wikipedia page or anything, is he pretty unknown? i figured by the video he was probably pretty popular (high production values and whatnot).

Which is why I cannot listen to "Christian rap" anymore. Every time I hear "I DIE FOR MY JESUS" or some shit like that, I just can't take it..
