I have read over the last 3 to 6 months people saying things about Amex, Right now, I do have an Amex, I just want to know why do you like you amex or why you don't like amex ?

i want to get the costco executive amex thingy, but i have to wait for some credit stuff to get cleared up

I like mine because AMEX is the best company i've EVER worked with, they are always very helpful, very secure in communication, and have never pulled a bait and switch.
 
Amex is great, best CC company ive ever delt with in terms of fraud and such, and they seem to actually care about their costomors
 
AMEX has always been quick in stopping charges from bad online companies. You see a weird charge on your credit card, you can fill out a quick form online or give them a call and instantly the charge will be removed from your account while they investigate it. And my interest rate is somewhere around 10%, not the best, but better than a lot of VISA/MCs which charge somewhere around 16-18% (although I always pay my bill in full, so this doesn't really matter to me).
 
I love Amex, customer service is great! Some people complain that the charges do not post as quick as other cards issuer and they also don't show pending charges.
 
I am kinda pissed with them right now. I've had a Blue card almost since they started offering it and I recently noticed that my interest rate has exploded up to 27% for some reason. That is simply INSANE! It's always been paid on time and although I don't use it very often (it's more of an emergency card than anything), I see no reason for jacking my interest rate like they have. Anyone have experience getting them to lower your interest rate to a reasonable level?

I just cashed in all my points last night in preparation for closing the account if they don't play ball with getting my interest rate down to something respectable.

My biggest annoyance with my Amex card is it's not accepted anywhere so there are times when I have to fall back on my other CC or pay with cash.

They will double th emfg. warranty up to a year, so if you have a Dell with a one year warranty it will be covered for 2 years, one by Dell and one by AMEX. I used it a fe wmonths ago on my Dell Axim PDA. AMEX credited my CC with the purchase prise of the Axim.
