[Likely Fake] XBOX cpu leaked!

Doesn't that look like a ~Power 7 type CPU configuration (the high levels of SMT per core?)

Cheap? No, it definitely looks to not be that - but I suppose if they are serious about the Kinect, they need some horsepower.

At least if it is a Power 7 variant, it will be a much more modern CPU than what the xbox is currently packing.

It looks like a POWER7 chip cut in half. I'd laugh if some news website used the term 16 cores instead of 16 threads.

16 threads? These four core cpu's are lookin light in the SACK all the sudden. Once developers start putting these threads to use how much of a handicap will a four core cpu with no HT be?

That depends on how the games are developed and hardware is leveraged. I don't picture a game using all 16 threads. In all likelihood, a good portion of those threads will be for Kinect and whatever-the-hell-else MS decides to run in the background. It also depends on the horsepower of the GPU as well, because higher GFLOPs GPU means more integer calculations on the CPU.

I'd imagine it would impact it, yea, but not to a great extent. If this thing is packing a 7970 and that Power7 4-core // 16 thread chip then we're all screwed but we'd actually be very happy about it 😛

I am going to say... fake.

TurboCORE is an AMD technology, not an IBM one. And AMD does not have (integer) SMT.

Wouldn't be surprised if they do end up being baked @ GF though.

If sony goes x86 they will go under like sega did,no one will code for them if nintendo and xbox are not on x86 and x86 is a joke to run on a console to begin with.

I'm going to say...legitimate.

It's an IBM chip, probably derived from the Power7 technology shrunken to 32nm. So 4-way SMT makes sense (since Power7 has 4-way SMT).

Production at GF also makes sense since they make the current XBOX 360 SoC.

If its real, so much for AMD's hopes to recover from BD fiasco. Maybe Trinity's perfromance was weak sauce and Microsoft decided to go with a sure thing.

I thought it was ARM or x86 AMD Fusion? These leakers need to get their stories straight.

ARM, is a joke.... x86 fusion is for sony ps4

i have to say, it smells fake to me too..... but more because of the massive edram and strange date of nda

AMD and IBM are making this console, so... SMT from IBM and TurboCORE from AMD, no surprise here (for me atlest)
