Liked the old forum layout better

Agreed. We need a FuseTalk skin for this.

There is WAY too much whitespace in viewing forum topics. It needs to be condensed.

I also agree, I liked the older forum style better. I find it harder to read than the older forums, everything is kind of a wash color wise.

Just please never allow people to have huge signature pictures like is allowed on other forums where everyone and their mother has some huge picture proclaiming their ownage.

everything is now spread out before it was more condensed which I think people liked,
but its all psychological you will get used to it hopefully.

i like the old style too. especially the "forum link" box on the left hand side (or whatever it was called). it was easy to access all the forums from that box.

now, a person has to scroll down, down, down.. and it takes more time

Honestly, I've always liked vbulletin better than the old forum used by anandtech. I was excited to hear that they were switching.

I'm probably going to use this forum more often now than I ever did before.

Maybe the mods will come up with a way to skin the forums or something so you can make it look more like it did before for those that want it?

The color scheme seems like a big wash... Everything is just harder to read for some reason.

The lack of quick reply kills me.

Lack of forum navigation on the left side also kills me...

Yeah sorry guys, we all know you wanted to make a change for the better and it's true vbulletin is great, but AnandTech lived to long in those shadows of the past to have changed it.

Like they say? ---> If it ain't broke don't fix it, so what was wrong with the other forum?

You know the other forum was a lot faster loading then vbulletin is now. Hasn't anyone noticed how slow it loads now?

The old forum gave us a different feel, a different place to belong, now I don't know where I am and I've been on AnandTech 6 years....

One other thing, I use a 15" CRT running a 1024x768, and the forum now doesn't scale properly to this size, the forum is now to wide! 🙁

I HATE IT! 🙁

Have to disagree with the majority in this thread, I think it's great. I think they just need to work on getting rid of some of the wasted whitespace and we'll be golden.

The absolute bottom of the page forum navigation is not only incredibly inconvenient, but it took a long time to find. I was briefly convinced that there wasn't any after searching through the menu bars at the top of the page.

And as a personal preference, the new layout takes way too much space for everything. I want to read forums, not scroll them.

The other forum was absolutely horribly IMO. I used it, but that does not mean I like it. Vbulletin is very customizable, but they need to get the kinks worked out first obviously. In my experiences, Vbulletin is the best forum software I have used, followed by PhPBB3.

I say that it's about time. Especially with the lack of email when you get a PM in the old software. I absolutely hated that. I've sold a lot of stuff throughout the years on this forum and have actually missed some sales due to no emails for PMs. I welcome the change and I will now be on this forum more often.

Like anything different, it takes getting used to. I find that some things are better. The one thing I do not like is replacing actual dates with "Today, Yesterday, etc. When I browse the forum, date numbers jump out quicker to my eye. What I would like to see is the date of the last reply. That way I can ignore yesterday's news. 🙂

this feels bloated compared to the old forums 😉

everything used to be so nice and compact...
