Was it Corgan's idea not to release this album? Sounds like the tracks never made it to a mastering studio.

Virgin had basically told the band that they weren't interested in lending much support to the album, so Corgan printed up 25 copies on his own record label and gave them out (knowing they would make the rounds as a free download) as a final "f*ck you" to the label.

AFAIK, our local radio station got one of the 25 copies so it should be decent quality (or at least as good as the original). What's the bitrate showing up as? I'm at work and stupid websense blocks me from accessing .mp3s so I haven't listened to any of this stuff yet.

Showing up as 192kbps for me. The MP3 quality is fine, and it sounds professionally recorded/mixed. However it's lacking some definition and sounding kind of muddy, I'm guessing b/c they didn't take it to a mastering studio to get it EQ'd/compressed/limited. The songs themselves are great though.

Thanks. I knew that. Just thought some of our members might not have known about it since it wasn't made much of in the press. Here's a cookie for being so vigilant tho.
