"Like I said..." "As said before..."

Is it just me, or are these the most disrespectful phrases ever?

Whenever I hear someone ask a question, and another person begin their reply with "Like I said before...", I seriously cringe. Just seems like a blatant way to insult someones intelligence like they are incapable of listening.

It seems like such a backhand to me. Anyone else feel that way?

Well if you paid attention the first time and didn't ask me the same damn thing I wouldn't have to say that.

As said before in many occasions, these things are merely ways of enunciating certain points. Though if used too much can get annoying.

Your license to kill isn't also a license to not act like a sniveling 12 year old girl?

It could be disrespectful depending on who you are talking, and, your body language and tone of voice.

"As said before," would be appropriate for a public speaking situation where you are referring back to a previous statement.

"Like I said," could definitely be a rude introduction to a sentence, but, if the person on the other end of the conversation was listening, then it wouldn't need to be said.

I think you're right about the body language / tone. There's one person in particular that I know who is constantly using it... I think its his personal delivery that gets to me.

I can think of a few instances where I sounded like a huge asshole after saying "Like I said,". Usually when trying to explain technical things to non-technical people 😀

No, our testicles descended which prevents us from whining like a little bitch at every perceived slight the world has to offer.

I love when pro athletes start their statement to a question with "As/Like I said.." even though they never said anything about what they're refering to during the interview yet lol.
