Like Everyone Else I need some P35 advice

I've decided not to wait for x38 and go get a P35 board. Can anyone tell me what the best overclocking board is I prefer Asus but I'm also thinking Gigabyte and Price isn't my concern here I just want the best board.

Things I'm looking for in a board would be:
1. Overclockability
2. esataII ports (can i get an addon card for this if mobo doesn't have it?)
3. Firewire as I noticed the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R doesnt have this (guess I could install a firewire card)
4. I'm confused with all the Asus P5K boards (to man to choose from)
5. Must support Penryn
6. Would be nice if it supports both ddr2 and ddr3 but not entirely necessary
7. Has to support 1333FSB to go with my E6850

Please help the noob🙂

Does the P35-DS3R support DDR2 and DDR3? I was just on their website and I didn't notice DDR3 support.

Opps I need the P35C-DS3R for that I forgot the C may bad

Do you think the DQ6 is and will be a better overclocking board than the p35c-ds3r or is it possible that the p35c-ds3r is and will be better due to the fact that it supports ddr3? I guess I'm scarded that when and if I upgrade to Penryn that not having DDR3 support will kill me. I mean if the DQ6 had it I would buy it hands down but the fact that the DQ6 doesn't have DDR3 support scares me a bit for the future.

I like everything I've seen on the Abit IP35 Pro. Cheaper than the P5K Deluxe/Premium, has eSATA, Firewire and the layout is pretty nice. What I don't like about the ASUS boards is that SATA ports look like they would get blocked by a full-sized card (eg. 8800GTX) in the first PCIe slot.

There is a 100+-post thread on it here and also several threads/reviews all over the net. Do give it a look.

I wouldn't worry about DDR3 because they are currently 4-5 times more expensive than equivalent DDR2 kits. They will only be necessary far into the future (around the time Nehalem makes it mandatory) and you'd need a new board for that anyway.

I appreciate the info and if DDR3 is out of the equation I think I'll grab the DQ6 as it has esata and firewire, sucks that it cost $100 more than the P35C-DS3R.

That's why they include right-angled SATA cables. Works perfectly with long video cards.
