I'm surprised they made that much already, but good on them. I loved Psychonauts :)

Interesting that in ten hours they already made almost as much as most of the indie bundles make in an entire run; curious how far it'll go/how much it'll slow down.

The words "old school adventure game" were all I needed to hear. Sold.

I'm not sure Psychonauts needs a sequel, but I would definitely like to see Tim Schafer make another game.

How do they only need $400,000 to do this? I guess given their desired release date it will probably be a somewhat short game and only have 6 guys working on it?

Wow a million dollars for a point and click style adventure game? At least that's what I'm assuming it's intended to be based on the description rather than another action/platforming game. Kudos to them I guess.

They're almost at $1.3M :awe: After a day... with 32 days to go!

What makes me o_O is that Schafer tweeted that the budget for Monkey Island was $100K. Seriously, how much were they getting paid back then?

"guys, i'll make you a deal," schafer tweeted as it ticked toward the million mark last night. "if we hit $980k i'll add rts elements to the game," schafer said, making an obvious nod to brutal legend. "and if we hit $1m, i'll take them back out," he added, as a jab to the game's mixed reception.

I had the chance to ask the co-author of Zork and co-founder of Infocom about new text adventures being released, and he said he thinks they wouldn't sell. I wonder.

^ those co-authers sound like douches! :p

All I can say is (I own):

Monkey Island I & II
Grim fandango
Full throttle

(and they) are amoung some of the most fun Ive had playing single player games....
that and platform games like Mario. I do enjoy RTS and MMOs too though.

Personally Im abit tired of real time shooters... (seriously angry that fallout3 became a first person shooter (still bought it tho))
Its nice to see someone that wants to develop a Adventure game.... and even better is that its guys like Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert.

This is pretty interesting, Tim Schafer's been posting when the contributions bypass the budget of previous games.

Monkey Island <= $100,000
Day of the Tentacle = $600,000
Full Throttle = $1,500,000
Grim Fandango = $3,000,000

So right now, they've surpassed Full Throttle.

Really? It took a million and a half to get Full Throttle out the door? Did that all go to voice actors or something? Cuz its one of the shortest cheapest games I ever played.

Well, they did have Mark Hamill among others and they had licensed music. The 3D animation also probably added to some of the costs.

Full Throttle was a good game, but not a masterpiece like monkey island and Grim Fandango.
I think the best game, hes made is by far Grim Fandango.

If you havnt played it yet... I highly recammend it.
You can probably find it somewhere for cheap and its def. worth the experiance.
