will be looking for one soon. any recommendations, inputs about this somewhat new technology from hp?

It's pretty cool technology. I don't have a lightscribe myself (just bought a new pioneer DVD/DL burner instead of one w/ lightscribe). One thing to think about: price of lightscribe media. Currently even lightscribe CDs are pretty expensive. DVD lightscribe media, well I'm not even sure, I have yet to see it, but I'm sure it exists by now (it didn't when the drives first came out) and I'm sure it's very expensive.

The quality is extremely crappy if you look at a disc that has been "Lightscribed" by a Hp computer/laptop. The overall quality is extremely grainy.....bottom line is that it sucks!!!

wait for Hitachi's version to come out later in spring. Your patience will be rewarded!
