I dont know what kind of board this is, but the onboard 4 LEDs light up RED, RED, GREEN, RED

is there a standard meaning for this? is it board specific?

i switched the vid card... no luck
system seems to turn on but no display

next step is to switch ram...

any other ideas?

Some msi boards have those. They're used to trouble shoot problems. You might want to check the cpu. A bad one can do what yours is, so can a cpu not seated correctly, or a cpu that the board doesn't support.

Good luck
