Say I have a small lightbulb here. On the package it says it's for flashlights using two D size batteries. Thus, 3 volts. Now, I have a reading lamp here that uses the same size bulb, but its DC adapter is 6 volts. Can I use this lightbulb in the reading lamp? Will the voltage differeces matter? Thanks!

well i'm not sure but ya'd think that if you are useing less voltage that you could just try it and it probably wouldn't hurt. just hold it away from you and you turn it on??

You can use it, but the life of the bulb will be cut in half or shorter since you are applying too much voltage.

That's what I figured. :(

I'm gonna go look for a 3 volt DC adapter..I don't see why it wouldn't work since there's nothing voltage specific in the reading lamp other than the bulb.
