I came across this Light Point Web it looks like a colud based VPN of sorts and am wondering if anyone here use it?

Does it do what it says?

Is it fast?

Does it stop browsers from phoning home since there apparently is no way to tell who is doing the actual calling?

I will be migrating to Windows 10 soon and am thinking this plus Edge might be a very good combination.

Hi, I'm the CEO of Light Point Security. I'll let others speak to how they like Light Point Web, but I thought I would chime in and answer your technical questions on how the product works.

...it looks like a cloud based VPN of sorts...

Not quite. While a VPN just routes network traffic through a different path, Light Point Web is actually an entirely separate browser that runs in the cloud. None of the website content ever comes back to your computer. So not only does LPW protect your identity like a VPN, it also provides malware protection.

Does it stop browsers from phoning home since there apparently is no way to tell who is doing the actual calling?

Light Point Web doesn't stop your browser from doing its own internal house keeping tasks. But it does stop websites you visit from identifying your IP address, location, system fingerprint, etc.

I will be migrating to Windows 10 soon and am thinking this plus Edge might be a very good combination.

We don't currently support Edge today. But we do support IE 11, which is also installed on Windows 10 by default.

I'm happy to answer any other questions you may have here, or feel free to reach out to us at info@lightpointsecurity.com.

Thanks for the reply, I will give the trial a go after I upgrade to 10.

I hope you can add Edge support soon too.
