I want to get HID fog lights.

The kicker is I am going to put yellow film over my fog light plastic cover so when the light hits it, the color will be yellow. I will be getting 4300k

This should greatly improve the distance of the fog lights during actual fog.

Correct?

A person that wants to get fog lights for the right reason! So refreshing...

It is my understanding that yellowish + low to the ground = good for fog.

First of all, color temperature is irrelevant if you'll be sending the light through a colored lens.

Second, unless they put out more lumens, there won't be any difference in how well you can see.

Third, almost no "fog lights" today have a proper beam pattern for fog, so you'll need to choose the housings carefully.

Why do you need yellow foglights in hid? You're better of just getting a halogen foglight projector with a yellow h3 bulb, its much cheaper.
I bought a set of bosch mini h3 projectors and stuck some hella yellow gold bulbs and they work just fine. These projectors have a perfect cutoff and the h3 bulb is plenty bright, and its only the 55watt verion. You can even get 85 or 100watt if you want.

why not get 3k HID kit instead. therefore its already yellow....

those mini need to be retrofited into existing fog lights. then you wanna put overwattage bulbs in there to burn up the harness... you asking for trouble none the less. dont get me wrong the retrofit is great if you can do it and know what your doing. i tried to do es300 projector retros and it just didn't happen and now i'm getting h3 yellow capsules put in now.. hopefully i can get that to fit nicely..

like the OP i want yellow fog lights. I'm not going extreme as to HID kit, can afford it.. i'm tinting the lens yellow and i have the lexus yellow capsules to add more yellow to the light. h3 powered 55wat stock white bulbs will look extremely yellow at this point.

not as good as a 92-96 ES300 nor a IS300 yellow fog but close...

4300k is a lot whiter than a normal halogen headlight.
Go with a 3000k HID setup which looks sick and actually does something in the fog!
