Question Light D1 & D2 on OWC Mercury Extreme Pro SSD board

What are the lights D1 & D2 on the OWC Mercury Extreme Pro SSD circuit board? My SSD has died, meaning my computer can't see it. When I plug it in (having removed the case), I can see D2 flicker red then stay off, and D1 lights up solid red. I'm wondering if there is a way to revive the drive. I've tried the power cycling tricks to no avail.
