Light blue armband worn by (some) MLB players

I'll admit that I haven't watched baseball in a while. I'm watching the Yankees-Dodgers replay on ESPN right now and I noticed that some players are wearing a light blue armband. It wasn't only in this game because I remember seeing it on Griffey during the Sports Center highlights. What's the significance of the armband?

It's for the colon cancer. MLB does that every fathers day. Just like some player wear blue ribbon on mother day for breast cancer awareness.

Idiots, all! It represents Heterosexual Solidarity Day. Next week is Homosexual Soldiarity Day and the players will be wearing pink armbands with ruffles.

yep.. they are wearing it to promote prostate cancer awareness and for each homerun hit I think something like $30000 goes to research.
