Light at the end of the tunnel

Wow, that was very kind without a doubt 🙂

Edit: I would like to think that the provider of the emergency flight would give that businessman some kind of discount to show appreciation for what he did.

Wow...nice of that guy.

Related rant: Family friend suffered a massive heart attack while vacationing with his family in Hawaii. Went into a coma, and the family had to fork over $50,000 to fly him back to their hometown on the east coast. Insurance wouldn't pay a cent for that. :|

Was this travel insurance or just his medical policy? I understand the latter doesn't cover these kinds of things where the former would.

hmm, don't know for sure, but I think it was the medical insurance.

The benefactor was terrific, but these kind of situations make me nuts.

She travels abroad, WITHOUT PROPER TRAVEL MEDICAL INSURANCE, and then her family is upset that the government didn't look after her and fly her home. It is nobodies fault but her own, she was just lucky that someone stepped forward to help.

If it didn't repeatedly say they were from the UK i'd have assumed they were american, since you know it's the governments fault they were unprepared...*rolls eyes* us silly americans and difusion of responsibility......i'm ashamed!

disclaimer - i realize there are standup characters here in the US, my stereo type doesn't apply to them 😉

Well we have the NHS which we pay a fair amount for, and UK people are covered for travelling in the EU by cover offered, but it's within the EO only.
It is their own fault for not being insured outside of the areas they are covered in (UK and EU)
