Folks,

I received this by e-mail a few minutes ago just as I was about settle down and get some work done . . .

"Friday night at 7:00 p.m. step out your door, stop your car, or step out of your establishment and light a candle. We will show the world that Americans are strong and united together against terrorism. Please pass this to everyone on your e-mail list. We need to reach everyone across the United States quickly.

The message: WE STAND UNITED - WE WILL NOT TOLERATE TERRORISM!

Excuse my raw cynicism, but no one but your neighbor is going to see your light and I don't believe terrorists are really afraid of candles, wrist-bracelets, arm-bands, flags, and other shows of solidarity.

If we want to light something up, let's make it them - a worldwide terrorist bonfire. What everyone seems to be forgetting is that while our intelligence sucks by any standard, we do know who they are. We know who has vowed violence on the United States. We know who dances in the streets and hands out candy in celebration of our loss. In short, we know who wants to waste us and it is our job to waste them first. So, rather than light a candle, let's light a few thousand flame throwers and really show the world we mean business.

Again, thanks for all your e-mail. Let's hope our government has the resolve, not to change our lives with silly security measures that won't work, but the resolve to allow us to continue to live in freedom.
