I've never seen one that doesn't lift under the wheels, but many of them have extra jacks so you can lift the car off the platform and do work also.

I've only ever seen those on alignment racks. Pricey stuff, and the jacks need compressed air to work. Plus, even with those jacks, parts can be much harder to access than with a frame lift.

Personally, I couldn't see installing a drive-on lift unless I was opening a Jiffy Lube in my garage.

Lol, you have so much bad information it's just hilarity....... I'm not even going to bother. Ah what the hell......

They make manual jacks, compressed air is NOT needed. They can be had for a reasonable price. Some are in line with what a decent floor jack would cost.

Access isn't as good as a 2 post, BUT, if you can't find a way to get the job done you shouldn't be working on the car anyway.

If you did open a jiffy lube, I'm sure you'd be out of business quickly with your lack of knowledge.

You confuse 'bad information' with 'lack of knowledge concerning things that are stupid.'

I apologize for ever trying to be nice to you. Apparently, it's not just the way I'm percieving your comments; you are, in fact, a jackass.

edit: pardon me, 'jackass' was not the way to phrase that.

I meant 'ignorant jackass.'

Its about time you "backed off" as he did give you an a good answer but the chip on your should is about to come off too...

I'm an ignorant jackass?

Pot/kettle. You spew bad information and try to insult me by calling me names. What are you 12? I mean my 5 year old has better lines than these.

"Things that are stupid"? I mean, seriously.... Anyone that has at least half a brain would research some before they invest in equipment. The fact that you are unaware that there are manual jack alternatives, air is NOT required and the fact that the cost of said units is somewhat reasonable tells the simple tale of your general knowledge on this subject. I base my assessment of you opening your "Jiffy Lube" on this alone. I mean, after you overspend on air to drive your high cost equipment, your oil change price would be extremely high so therefore you surely would go out of business quickly. Simple. (Not to mention most "Jiffy Lube" places don't have drive on 4 post lifts. They typically have open pit bays and small lifts. It's not like they'll be pulling a transmission anyway. Open bay for an oil change, small lift for a quick tire rotation.)
