There this guy around my area that driving a quad cab f250/f350 that lifted. He using the plain ol stock wheels. It looks so stupid, Normally when people lift their truck, they also tend to put biggers wheel and tires on.

Ok, and?

You're right, he's stupid for not getting something after market, but he's stupid for having lifted it too.

I put 300 lbs of stuff in the back, and wanted to add another 500 lbs,but he wants the box mostly empty. Ugh.

I'll probably put larger tires on my stock (alloy) wheels..with a suspension lift. There's nothing wrong with it, IMO..

whats the point in lifting a DIESEL truck in the first place...the things are made for hauling not offroading....unless your like hauling clydsdales and its got a crazy high hitch of some crap...
and your point about the tires is well made, but theres always the possiblity didnt have the money to do it all at once and doing it in steps...

Diesel has nothing to do with it.. It is ridiculous that people lift F350s and so on though. The rednecks from Beaumont, TX all drive those things with insane lifts. It looks goofy as hell, because usually the tires aren't that big, and of course the axle is still 1 foot off the ground, max

well its ridiculous either way. defeating any possible safety features that have been engineered into the truck for vanity. it garrantees horrible mismatch between vehicles in accidents, smashing into the softest parts of a car, or even another normal truck. people like this show a flagrant disregard for the lives of others. it should be illegal.

A diesel is a great engine for off roading. Almost full torque at idle.

But I agree, a lifted truck without larger tires is kinda stupid.

Some states have lift limits.

I'm already mismatched to factory SUVs with my MR2..you don't see me complaining. For some people, a lift on a truck actually comes in handy..it's not all 'vanity'.

modern factory suv's have frame structures behind the bumpers to direct forces to lower parts of vehicles they impact. imperfect but its something. raising your truck defeats this completely and makes your vehicle disproportiontly dangerous. and if its not for vanity, it should require a permit. as far as i can tell its mostly for vanity. expiditions use land rovers, not raised trucks to rome around the wilderness.

fixed

don't get me wrong, I think there should be limits, and I do agree that many people have lifted vehicles for cosmetic purposes. Don't, however assume that means that all lifts are cosmetic.
