My Tilley hat wore out after of four years rugged service keeping my noggin from oversaturating the GoogleEarth photos. Mailed it in earlier this month. Two weeks later a brand new hat shows up as promised.

The zippers on my North Face tent wore out as did the fly spacers. Mailed it in earlier this month. It came back today, repaired, no charge, as promised. The tent is twenty one years old.

Life is good.

I've had stuff replaced by all these companies under their lifetime guarantees.

same thing with clarks shoes. my dad sent his 8-9 year old pair in (finally wore out), and gave him back a completely brand new pair for no charge.

I like to see companies that are that confident in their own products.

I think more companies are that confident in their products, but they aren't confident that consumers won't abuse them. You don't have to look far to find someone intentionally damaging an item so they can get a warranty replacement, or someone RMAing an item that was damaged through negligence or carelessness rather than manufacturing defects.

Lifetime warranties are pretty awesome.

I always wondered how the hell these companies make any money when each customer only has to buy one item in his lifetime and the company foots the bill for repairing/replacing the product.
