Lifetime Fitness membership questions

I am thinking of joining Lifetime Fitness. The clubs most convenient to me require at least a "Sports" membership. I know I can get rate info at the club, but I wanted to do some research before I subject myself to their full-court press (no pun intended!).

Does anyone know how much a Sport membership costs, and whether there is any way to negotiate a discount? I work at a small law firm and won't be eligible for any corporate discounts, but I am a military reservist and will qualify if there is a military discount.

I'm pretty sure they'll try to put the initiation cost on you (I think it's over $200). Whatever you do, do not pay that. Soon enough they'll give and let you sign up without that fee since they work commission.
