Life's strange ironies at 4AM

OK, so I got either a head cold or a sinus infection. Not surprising. I was hanging at the shopping mall on Sunday. Had furniture movers in my home for an hour on Monday. Electrician for half an hour on Tuesday. And as I'm up at the county justice and administration building yesterday some witless woman decided to not cover herself and sneeze on me and two others. Symptoms came on strong late last night and by 4AM I had to get back up. This is a GOOD thing!

While reviewing my booked trip to NYC, I noticed that my return trip out of NYC wasn't the same (LGA) airport as going into the Big Apple. Dear lord how could I miss that sh!t!?! Lucky for me this was the first time I booked the flights with cancellation coverage and managed to change the airport from EWA to LGA. I think the mistake came in not paying attention when you select 'show me flights from NYC area airports' and not paying attention. Logged back into Delta's website and managed to get it corrected. Now leaving LGA 15 minutes later than I originally thought AND saved $75 in the process. Woohoo!!!

Did you get a schedule change email from the airline at all? Not sure if this is still the case but they are not always great about highlighting an airport change. We ran into that when we bought tickets to Italy - landing at Malpensa. I got an email from American Airlines where, in bold red letters, it had my new arrival time 10 minutes later than the original flight. Ok - NDB. Board the appropriately 'Milan' labeled flight. When we land we walk around looking for the train to the city. Finally give up and ask information "The train is only at Malpensa." Wait - then where the hell are we?!?! Turns out AA changed the airport to Linate in that same schedule change but didn't think that deserved any bolding or color coding to draw attention to that part of the change (Which I would argue is slightly more important than landing 10 minutes later than originally scheduled).

Either way - glad it worked out for you

Had that happen to me once. I had enough time between flights to get a taxi across NYC, but I really didn't want to do so. I didn't realize the problem until the day that I was to fly. I checked that there was another flight from ORD was available at the same time, with the same airline, and had plenty of open seats, but to the correct connecting airport. The gate agent just kindly switched my flight without any fees. Sometimes, airlines care about customers.

I did always wonder how the airline intended to get my luggage across NYC. I also miss the $630 round trip European flights.

I hope that you're taking your temp periodically and you run, not walk, to the Medimerge clinic or your own doc and get a covid test.

This is where you say "yes mom." hehe

If you have a choice, get the PCR test since that's pretty close to being guaranteed accurate. In a pinch though, the antigen tests are ok.

I get sinus infections 3-4 times a year, and usually at least one head cold. My chest is fine. I can smell and taste. Just some stuffy, runny nose thingie, mom.

There's usually a shuttle called NYC Airport Express service between LGA/JFK however it's around $30 one way I believe not free. Bad news is according to what I've read recently its still not operating due to the pandemic.

In any case it's far better to not have to change airports as well as planes!

😛

Came for the irony, left disappointed 🙁

WTC, SoL, shopping and eating. Nothing hard-planned. Just want to get out of Atlanta for a few days and I've not been to NYC in 30 years.
