Alright, now that I'm in the right forum

Man, I'm having a really hard time right now. Been looking for a job forever and nothing is working out.

I just had a 3 interview process with a company including an interview with the General Manager. They basically gave me the job last Friday, sent off for a background check including criminal, social security, and employment history. I got a call today after frantically working all weekend to get things done around here before I started working again full time. She says come on down and we'll send you for a drug screen. It will take 24 hours and as soon as we get the results you're on board.

I run around to finish some things up, jump in the shower, and as soon as I get out she calls again. "Can I ask you a quick questions" How long did you work for _________ company? I tell her... and then she tells me that another company I worked for only had me down for 4 months of temp work, and another I had on the applications didn't have any records of me at all. This is all a mistake and I try to explain it to her, but she says she will have to postpone the drug screen for now and think about it. She will give me a call later today.....

Well, I'm steamed about this employment history check so I look for pay stubs for evidence that I worked at these places, and it?s a FACT that I was hired on full time for that one company and eventually laid off in a downsizing. I even got a letter of recommendation for the Director of Operations from this company saying what a good worker I was. I call her back and tell her my story. She ask if I have any more solid employment history I can prove... I don't so she says she can't take it to the next step (drug screen) and that as her duty as a manager, she has to find the right person.

The right person??? I impressed them very much in my three interviews. They even told me so. The job was mine, but she wouldn't give me a freaking break. I?m not sure what I?m going to do now. This is all so depressing. Being unemployed is the worst. Especially for a motivated person like myself that has tons of plans and goals. I?ve applied for so many positions in the last few months. I don?t know what, where, or when I?m going to apply next.

=/

Just wanted to get that off my chest for the 4th time today.

hey, take it easy. If that manager was going to act like biiach, then there were sure to only be problems in the future if you did work there. But I guess that does been being unemployed... sorry, keep trying.

Thanks guys...

It's really too bad it didn't work out. It seemed like a really good opportunity for myself, and I was really excited about the whole thing. I was really churning over the weekend and into this week. Got a whole lot done and spent some money I didn't have too in anticipation that I'd be working next Monday.

Oh well... something will come my way.

Hmmm, sounds like you're ready to go shoot Bush for not doing anything to help the economy. But seriously, I think she had someone else in mind that she wanted for the job. A friend, a relative, someone who she knows. By making it hard for you, she can get her friend in. What do you think?

Edit: lots of jobs in the military. Any jobless person can enlist. Good pay, stay in shape and learn to kill people. Our current president will make sure you get a chance to kill someone too. I'm sure of it.

Is it too late to do all the ground work yourself? Can you not get all the info from the people directly?
