Hi all, I was downloading some stuff off of mirc and i had auto-get enabled i went into a room and some loser sent me life stages i tried to cancel it but it downloaded too quickly to stop. So i went on thinking i had cancled the downlaod and had no problems then after a couple of days i tried ajusting my modem settings and my computer froze up, so i thought hmm ill just restart. I restarted and i since my computer is spilt into 5 partiions i was jsut gonna open up a file in my D: drive when i opened up my computer my d,f,and g drives had disappeared this got me pretty pissed off and as well i had alot of errors when i loaded up windows since the extensions of the programs had disappeared. So since my drives had been formatted i decided to use partition magic and make another partition that all worked fine but i still had a drive left, E: it was acting crazy, like giving me blue screens and errors when i tried to load it up so i decided to format it so i went to ms-dos and typed in format E:, but it said that it was a bad device header
and i couldnt format it. and now when i try to delte or copy anything from my new partition that i made it gives me blue screens and i have to reboot. Is there any way i can resolve this issue without formatting my entire drive. luckily i can still boot up and it didnt delete my C drive but when i go to my computer and click on the E: drive it jumps to a blue screen. i dont want to format my c drive because i got win98 off of a friend and i dont have the cd anymore on my old partions i had copied the enitre win98 cd that he gave me onto the hard drive just incase i had problems because at that time i didnt have a cd-rw. So any help would be appreciated thanks alot. here are my specs:
win98se
mmx 233mhz
64mb ram
voodoo 3 16mb pci
wd 10gb hd
thanks alot
oh and i did have norton antivirus 2002 which had the updated virus definitions only a week ago. so it should have detected the virus, and it even said that something had changed the boot records and if i wanted to revert to the original ones and i did that but it still messed up my hd
