It's a nice place to live if you are getting paid something decent. Housing is cheap for sure.

Is it? I would think that replacing your AC unit every 5 years and beachside cops with ticket quotas increases the cost of living a tad.

Why would you have to replace your AC unit every 5 years?

AC Units due tend to duie quickly in florida. My guess would be the added humidity. For me though, we usually get one every 7-10 years.

Well, the reason I asked is because I grew up in Miami and my parents still live there in the same house and I can't remember the last time they had the A/C unit replaced. It has to be going on 10-15 years now.

If you live on the beach, it tends to be a problem. Most of Miami is on the mainland, so its less prevalent.

So it has something to do with the salt and not just running the system so much that it breaks down?
