Anyone ever live there, know much about the place? I'm trying to get a job there and it looks like I'm going to get it.

Like driving? The traffic and the salt is pretty bad.

-PAB

EDIT: I should elaborate. Weekend traffic isnt too perky what with all the surfer types, and salt spray from the atlantic does wonders for a car's underbody.

It's a nice place to live if you are getting paid something decent. Housing is cheap for sure.

Is it? I would think that replacing your AC unit every 5 years and beachside cops with ticket quotas increases the cost of living a tad.

I think this question was asked a few weeks ago. Use the SEARCH function and see what was said.

Why would you have to replace your AC unit every 5 years?

I'm not bitter! I'm just...cheap. That and we have a nice position in the good 'ole boy network.

Salt eats the hell out of everything on the beach. Your cars, AC, and almost anything that has steel and is oustide daily degrades.

My dad bought a van thats been housed out on the beach for the past 9 years. I should get pics of the frame and underbody. It looks horrid.

Why would you have to replace your AC unit every 5 years?

AC Units due tend to duie quickly in florida. My guess would be the added humidity. For me though, we usually get one every 7-10 years.

Well, the reason I asked is because I grew up in Miami and my parents still live there in the same house and I can't remember the last time they had the A/C unit replaced. It has to be going on 10-15 years now.

My house was built in 1981 and the A/C unit is doing fine, thank you very much. But I live 20+ miles inland.

If you live on the beach, it tends to be a problem. Most of Miami is on the mainland, so its less prevalent.

So it has something to do with the salt and not just running the system so much that it breaks down?
