Yes it does. For me it's like you're at you're at work, just trying to get through the day and eventually the week so that it's the weekend again and you have free time. Then it's back to work on Monday for another 5 day trip to the next weekend. Living weekend to weekend sux man. Only thing you can do is make sure you have a job you like doing. If you don't like doing it, you're not going to want to go to work and you'll sit there and nef all day on ATOT. If you hate your job, start looking for a new one. Being happy at work is a big deal even though most people won't admit it.

Let's all look back on our past, appreciate the present and the people and things we have come to cherish now. Let not single day go to waste.

It's relative. when you were 5 years old a day was still a good portion of what was, to that point, your entire life. Now a day is but a fraction of your known life. I think that's why old people go so slowly. For them 60MPH is like 60MPM!

I'll be up for about 48 hours straight this weekend for work, hooray.
What do you do?

I think it's because when you're in school, there are noticable time breaks (weekends, thanksgiving break, winter break, spring break, summer break, etc).

whereas when you're working, doing generally the same thing every day, you lose track of time.

I can't wait to go to grad school :)

I had a 1/8th life crisis. This summer is GONE because I've been working 9-5. Still in high school.

How is it that I look back and can say time flies ... but then each individual work day drags on and on ... the work/time paradox :)

You think time goes by fast now, just wait till you have kids...the birthdays seem to come faster and faster and faster....It seems like yesterday that we got married...31 years ago...
Yeah, there's something to the "same old thing every day", but look for a way to put some variety into your otherwise dreary existance, and it doesn't seem so bad...;)

The past 6 years of my life have passed rather quickly, but not without events that punctuated that time with memories that I'll hold forever. I think a lot of people get into a rhythm where they're looking more forward to Fridays than they are anything that advances their goals. Thinking that "life blazes by" is only in retrospect, and you'll only think so if you don't feel you've accomplished anything in that time. We all need goals for the future and acknowledgements of those realized goals from the past.

Avoid the rhythm at all costs.

maybe I need to start my own business so I can break out from this rat race

It's just a different race. There seems to be a common misconception that running your own business somehow automatically means freedom; in fact, it's quite the contrary. You have far, far more obligations than you ever had as an employee of someone else's organization, and they're not obligations that you can ignore without incredible detriment. You work so many hours that your business really becomes who you are rather than a part of you.

The promises are that you'll be in the race for a shorter period of time; a sprint rather than a marathon. You also have the excitement of watching your business grow, chasing new and exciting opportunities, etc. It definitely betters the banalities of cubicle dwelling 9-5 5x a week, but it's not for everyone.

I think the reality is that a lot of people like the proverbial rat race whether they admit it or not. Some people like to wake up and know exactly what's going to happen that day with little deviation from the norm. Determism in your work allows you to concentrate on other things (e.g. family), but if you're running your own business you're assuming all the volatility that goes along with it.

Right in the middle of all of that, add that im back to being single, yah for me!

My advice is always make sure you're in some sort of social group, and not just your online community. Whether it be church, basketball league, book club, or anything where you can share time with friends doing the same thing as you.

Also don't get stuck having work your ownly interest, you'll end up having nothing to talk about with anyone else.
